The topic develops principles, procedures of how to apply materials in an effective way.
It is very important to focus on what we call 4 needs(Hall 1995):

1. Need to communicate
2. For long term goals
3. for authenticity
4. student- centeredness.

I believe that every material is fundamental to have learners  exposed to real life situations, provide feedback, chances, and stimulation. This will help learners to be motivated and interested in learning.
According to (Jolly and Bolitho) we should identify the need for materials, the use, production, and of course the evaluation, I consider that every material should be created having all of these principles in consideration because that way we wil be able to apply the different procedures.
Speaking about materials they have to be applied or should be created thinking on how well or how useful, important, relevant, necessary, and helpful would it be for learners. Try to work on the 4 skills for learners to work in 4 different ways(more complete).
